Diving Destinations in Honduras

Roatan

Roatan sits on the Bay Islands chain of Honduras and gives you a rare mix: easy Caribbean diving with genuinely technical options if you want depth. Most days are short boat rides, warm water, and reef structures that start shallow then peel into dramatic walls. ### What makes Roatan different The island's west side (West End / West Bay / Sandy Bay) is built for repetitive diving: quick turnarounds, many operators, and site variety from mellow coral slopes to deep walls and swim-throughs. If your goal is "log a lot of quality dives in one week," few Caribbean destinations are as efficient. The reef is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, so fish life is consistent and the topography keeps things interesting. You can do a relaxed photo dive in the morning, then switch to a deeper wreck profile like El Aguila or Odyssey in the afternoon. ### Conditions in practice Roatan is diveable year-round. February to June usually gives the calmest seas and strongest visibility, while October to January sees more rain and "northers" that can push operators to the lee side. Even in wetter months, boats still run and diving stays productive.
